B-RAD, B-ROCK, B-READY!

Many changes happen in our lives. We are excited to have the McLachlan clan coming to live with us for a while. To make it as comfortable as possible for their family, I have been making a few changes in our home. Mostly what you will see is space...everyone needs space! So after trips to DI and overflowing garbage receptacles, this is what I've come up with.

Here's their space in the upstairs linen closet. Maybe for B-Rad and B-Rock's clothes. Or really, whatever they want to put there!

Our room got a little addition. Now we are ready for company when we want to watch tv in our room!

Most needed bathroom space.Bradlee's space. Space for Brock's crib so he will feel at home and sleep like a baby!

Their own shelf in the kitchen pantry for baby food, bottles, whatever.

Hopefully, they will feel at home here and know how much we love them! I know that there are great things in store for their family and feel so blessed to be able to have them with us.

WELCOME HOME, MCLACHLANS !!!

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH

Last Friday we drove to Denver to help Jamie & Amy move into their new home. We decided to take the southern approach to Denver and it was a beautiful drive. The Rockies are more impressive when you come upon them from that direction. For much of the drive the Colorado River is alongside the road. I had never seen Vail or Aspen before. We found lots of places we would like to visit.

Sorry to say, but again, not many pictures. I did get that cute one of Jaiden, Thaiya, & Jetrin while I was keeping them busy during moving van loading. The elders came to help load but when we got to the new house, it was Terry & Jamie doing all the heavy work. They worked so hard and got so worn out I thought they might cry. Just when everyone was getting beyond tired and past cranky, Tory & Tyler showed up and really gave everyone a burst of renewed energy and a much better attitude! They would have been there sooner but Tyler had to work. There was a time crunch with the truck but all turned out well. Their house is very cute and in a real nice neighborhood. The kid's school is just down the street. They have an awesome deck with a hot tub that I'm sure will get lots of use. (I meant to take pictures)

All in all it was a great trip and we had a good time. It was so good to see the kids play together.

WHAT A WEEK!

To start with, we have been able to be where President Monson was twice this week when we weren't expecting it. First was at the 80th anniversary of "Music and the

Spoken Word" last Sunday. It was a great program and Pres. Monson spoke for a short time.

We also went with the Singles ward to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It is so beautiful inside.

The next night, we went to the Draper temple to be with a member of the ward receiving her own endowments. Another very beautiful temple. After the session, we were able to look across the valley and see the Jordan River temple and the Oquirrh Mtn temple. What a sight! Two temples in one city is a first, I think.

We also went to view the floats for the Days of 47 parade. We were really impressed with the quality of the floats. Terry even shed a tear at the more patriotic ones.

Thursday we went hiking in Mill Creek Canyon. We hiked pretty much straight up for 1 1/2 miles. Which meant the same straight down, which turns out is harder for us than the up. No pictures, but definitely worth returning and a great place to take kids.

Friday, was rodeo night. Yes, this is Whiplash, the rodeo monkey. He and his steed rounded up a bunch of goats. It was great. Then for the 2nd time this week of seeing Pres Monson, we were surprised when Whiplash presented him with a present. Pres Monson was sitting about 75 yards from us at the rodeo! Whenever I see him I am reminded of the Savior because he radiates such love. He is a prophet.

We were planning on taking another hike today, but when I woke up I didn't feel so well and when I took my temp...101. Guess we'll stay home. Perks with that too...Terry brought me breakfast in bed; scrambled eggs, toast, sliced tomatoes from our "garden", grapes, and raspberries! What a man!

PHAIR FAMILY SIX VISIT

Molly, Craig and kids were here for a week. I did not take any pictures as we were too busy having fun or were sleeping. It was a great week. They are so awesome. To see what we did check out Molly's blog. The only thing I could add was seeing "Hello Dolly" at the Hale Center. It was great fun!

HIKING AGAIN AT LAST!

Yeah!!! We got out and about again, finally! I went to Donut Falls with Molly, Craig & kids last week, but this is the first of the year for Terry and I. This is a picture from our 2nd hike of the day. First, we went to Hidden Falls and Mill B North Fork. It was fine but not what we were looking for so we continued up Big Cottonwood Canyon a few miles and set out for Lake Mary.
Terry has had a bad knee lately, but managed to do well the whole 3 miles. And look pretty hot.
We made it to the lake and it was worth it. Such a beautiful little lake, almost above the treeline.

We feel very blessed to be able to enjoy the awesome natural beauty around here.

FIRST BLOCK DONE!!!

Here is the first completed block on the quilt! The book calls it a Martha Washington Star block. It's a whole new pattern for me to grasp so my little mind gets muddled at first. But by Jove, I think I've got it. More to come.

That is a Bald Eagle at home plate. He was part of the "National Anthem". Very cool.

Fourth of July weekend was pretty great. On Friday we cleaned cars and the garage, went to dinner and a movie. "Transformers II" wasn't our favorite movie ever. Saturday, we broke all our rules and painted the basement so we no longer have patches of paint. Also washed the windows and screens and cleaned wasps and spiders and weeds and crap from the window wells. Then we cleaned ourselves up and went to a Bees game. It was actually lots of fun. I have to say 3 extra innings gets old though. After, they had some of the best fireworks I've ever seen. And as they set them off so close, the sound effects were awesome! As we talked it over on Sunday we both felt it was a satisfying, fun, and even relaxing holiday weekend. Anyone who wants to have a good time next 4th, come see us!

Today is new air conditioning day. It takes 2 days so it's pretty hot right now, but the installer guarantees that tomorrow it will be like melting 4 tons of ice a day right here inside our house! What a mess!
